The immediate past Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello was welcome to his hometown, Ede, Osun state with pomp and pageantry by throngs of residents, including members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, political associates and religious leaders on Thursday.
Welcoming the politician at Ede-Osogbo road at about 11.35am, the leadership of the APC, led the entourage, including party’s supporters, dancing and singing, through Akoda, to Ede Township hall where the homecoming reception was held.
The ambassador, who joined the crowd all along, trekking to his first port of call, the palace of Timi of Ede, Oba (Dr.) Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, where he was received, on behalf of the town’s monarch, who is out of town, by traditional chiefs led by Baba Kekere of Ede, Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Olaolu.
In his goodwill remarks, Alhaji Olaolu expressed Oba Lawal’s satisfaction of the accomplishments of all his subjects, irrespective of political lineage, adding that the town is proud Bello’s outstanding performance as speaker of the state house of assembly and ambassador.
While praying that Tinubu government at the center would consider Bello for another higher position, he urged the returneee ambassador to use his connection as a member of the ruling party to bring federal presence to Ede.
Addressing the mammoth crowd gathered at the Town Hall, Bello expressed delight for the reception the residents of Ede, especially members and leaders of APC in Ede South and Ede North accorded him.
He called on the people of the town to eshew political divisiveness and embrace tolerance, reminding APC members that the party is controlling federal level, urging them to cooperate with the Adeleke’s administration, to succeed at the state level.
Party leaders who spoke at the occasion appreciated the ambassador for his leadership capacity and his rare contributions to political development, both at the state and national levels.
They expressed gratitude to God for bringing him back safely from his assignment outside the country.
Bello, a former speaker of Osun state of Assembly was named the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States with concurrent accreditation to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama, by former President Muhammadu Buhari in June 1, 2020 and was lately recalled by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023.
Among the chieftains of the APC at the occasion were Dr. Oyewale Royal, Hon. Azeem Adebowale, Yekeen Bello, Hon. Taoheed Sijuade (Zobo) and host of others.
