The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stepped up its preparations for the 2027 general elections with the unveiling of governorship candidates for 28 states across the country.
The party, in a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the candidates reflected a mix of political experience and professional backgrounds as part of its broader strategy to strengthen its presence at the state level.
According to the party, the newly unveiled candidates would be expected to champion the ADC’s vision of providing Nigerians with credible leadership and a viable alternative to the established political parties.
“These men and women will carry the ADC banner and our commitment to offer Nigerians credible leadership and a real alternative,” the party said.
Among the prominent names unveiled are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who will contest the Lagos governorship election with Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere as his running mate; Halliru Jika and his running mate, Sama’ila Kabi, in Bauchi; Senator Ahmad Kaita and Aminu Ahmed in Katsina; and John Sura, paired with Pwajok-Kele Bitrus in Plateau State.
The list also features former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, in Kebbi; Shinkafi Bilyaminu Yusuf in Zamfara; Biodun Ogundipe in Ogun; Taofeek Adegoke in Oyo; Great Ogboru in Delta; and Ibrahim Ali Amin in Kano.
The ADC said its candidates would fly the party’s flag in Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The unveiling marks another significant step in the ADC’s mobilisation for the 2027 elections, with the party positioning itself to compete for political influence across a wide spread of the country.
