The management of Ajorosun College of Health Technology’s and Ajorosun Ibadan College of Nursing Sciences has described as malicious and misleading a recent publication questioning the status of the two institutions among other health colleges in Oyo State.

The rebuttal follows a statement issued by the Campaign for Better Public Health (CBPH), an advocacy group, which called on the Oyo State Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to investigate what it termed the proliferation of illegal health institutions in the state. The group had claimed that, aside from the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan, and the Iseyin College of Science and Health Technology, no other institution in the state is currently approved by the NBTE.

Reacting during a press conference held at the school premises on Tuesday, the Provost of the institutions, Dr. Adeniyi Odedele, urged the public to disregard the claims, insisting that both Ajorosun College of Health Technology and Ajorosun Ibadan College of Nursing Sciences are duly recognised by relevant regulatory authorities, with their programmes fully accredited.

To substantiate his position, Dr. Odedele presented certificates and official documents from recognised bodies, including the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) and the NBTE, affirming the institutions’ compliance with required standards.

He further displayed documents from the CHPRBN listing Ajorosun College of Health Technology among accredited health institutions in Nigeria, stressing that the colleges are adequately equipped with the necessary facilities for training students.

The Provost, therefore, called on the CBPH to thoroughly verify its claims before making public pronouncements and demanded an immediate apology for including the two institutions in its list of allegedly unapproved colleges.
