Hon. Ashimiu Afeez Adio on Tuesday formally declared his intention to contest the Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the January 16, 2027 general elections.

Addressing party members, supporters and stakeholders at the declaration event, Adio reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC, noting that he has remained committed to the party since 2014 without defecting. He stressed that party supremacy and discipline remain the bedrock of political success within the APC.
“I have stayed with the party through thick and thin. While some moved to other parties, I remained. I believe this is my time in 2027, and I am ready to serve my people diligently,” he said.

During an interaction with journalists, Adio reiterated his readiness to provide effective representation, promising to deliver good governance if elected. He expressed confidence in his acceptance within the party, attributing it to his consistency and respect for party leadership.

Speaking on his grassroots connection, the aspirant described himself as deeply rooted in the constituency, which comprises Egbeda and Ona Ara local governments.

According to him, his familiarity with all the wards and close relationship with residents position him as the right candidate.

“I am a grassroots politician. I know all the wards from Ward 1 to Ward 11, and my people know me well. I am calm and non-violent, and I am ready to serve them. They will not regret giving me their mandate,” he added.

Outlining his development agenda, Adio disclosed plans to provide six industrial boreholes powered by solar lighting by June 2026, alongside a ₦250 million empowerment programme targeting residents across the constituency. He assured constituents of impactful and people-oriented representation if elected.
On party support, he expressed confidence in the APC leadership, emphasizing adherence to party structure and guidance. He maintained that his loyalty and steadfastness set him apart, especially among politicians who defected during the 2023 elections but later returned.
Also speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of Next Level Support Group For BAT, Barrister Oladosu Oladipo, commended Adio’s consistency and described him as a credible candidate capable of delivering quality representation. He expressed optimism about Adio’s chances in the 2027 election.

Similarly, the APC Chairman in Ona Ara Local Government, Prince Abdulwasiu Ogundipe, endorsed Adio’s aspiration, describing him as the best candidate for the constituency and urging party members and residents to support his bid.
The declaration event attracted several political leaders and stakeholders from Egbeda and Ona Ara, including Hon. Tayo Ogunsola, Hon. Shina Lawal, Hon. Funmilayo Omorilewa, Hon. Ojasope Folashade, and Hon. Olayiwola Rufai, among others, who gathered to show solidarity with the aspirant.
