Uzodinma Nwafor, the candidate representing the Action Alliance (AA), has emerged victorious in the October 5, 2024, Etche Local Government Area (LGA) chairmanship election.
The announcement was made by Adolphus Enebeli, Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Enebeli confirmed that Nwafor secured the highest number of votes in the election, leading to his victory. Additionally, the Action Alliance swept all 19 councillorship positions within the LGA, solidifying its control.
The election was marked by the absence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which boycotted the polls.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, a PDP member, cited unfavorable court rulings as the reason behind the party’s withdrawal from the race.
