The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has refuted media reports alleging non-payment of ad-hoc staff who participated in the July 12, 2025 local government elections, describing the claims as misleading and baseless.
The Commission further maintained that all duly verified personnel have been paid within record time, a first in its history while the few outstanding cases are linked to incomplete or incorrect bank details, which are currently being rectified.

RE: Allegation of Non-Payment of Ad-Hoc Staff in LASIEC 2025 Local Government Elections
The attention of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has been drawn to a misleading report alleging that ad-hoc staff engaged in the recent local government elections are yet to be paid.
For the record, LASIEC *highly values the contributions of the ad-hoc staff who ensured the successful conduct of the July 12, 2025 elections*. Contrary to the report, all duly verified ad-hoc staff have been paid in line with the Commission’s established schedule. Indeed, this exercise marks the first time in the history of LASIEC that payments were concluded within such record time; a feat unprecedented in past elections.
The insinuation of embezzlement is false, mischievous, and baseless. Such an allegation does not arise, as the funds for these payments are released directly by the Lagos State Government through its transparent financial system, leaving no room for diversion.
The very few outstanding cases are solely due to incomplete or incorrect bank details submitted by some individuals. The Commission has already directed affected ad-hoc staff to liaise with their respective Electoral Officers to regularize their details. Verification is ongoing with designated officers to ensure that once corrected, such entitlements are promptly settled.
LASIEC remains committed to transparency, integrity, and fairness in the discharge of its duties, and urges members of the public to disregard sensational publications that seek to undermine confidence in democratic institutions.
