Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul, a founding member and leader of the Accord Party in Oyo State, has denied reports that he has defected from the party to another political organisation.
Igbinsola, who is also the Oyo State Coordinator of the JDS/PBAT Movement, described the reports as false and urged members of the public to disregard them.
In a statement signed by his Secretary, Hon. Olorunjuwon Abiola Falaja, the politician said his recent political engagements were in connection with the movement’s support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
According to him, following an earlier interaction involving Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat and the group’s Principal, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi Okanlomo Odua, also known as Gbonka Olubadan, it was agreed that they should work collectively towards supporting Tinubu’s second-term bid.
He said the JDS/PBAT Movement had openly declared its support for Tinubu and that representatives of the movement recently paid a courtesy visit to relevant political stakeholders to formally communicate and reaffirm its position.
Igbinsola stressed that his support for Tinubu’s 2027 ambition should not be interpreted as a decision to leave Accord, insisting that he remains a bona fide member, leader and founding father of the party in Oyo State.
“I have been associated with the political development of Accord in Oyo State for over 16 years, and I have remained committed to the principles and growth of the party,” Accord’s Southwest Zonal Leader said.
He added that he had no intention of abandoning Accord because of temporary political circumstances or differences among political actors, saying his loyalty and contributions to the party could not be erased by what he described as propaganda.
The Accord chieftain further explained that JDS is a duly registered non-governmental organisation, with Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi Okanlomo Odua/Gbokan Olubadan as its Principal and himself as the Oyo State Coordinator.
He said the pictures and videos from the recent engagement clearly showed that the gathering was centred on the JDS/PBAT Movement’s support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and was not a declaration of defection from Accord.
Igbinsola therefore urged his supporters, political associates and members of the public to disregard information suggesting that he had left Accord or joined another political party.
He maintained that his political identity, history and commitment to Accord remained clear, adding that political developments should not be used to misrepresent his political journey or create unnecessary tension.
