Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in the Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency have accused the party leadership of imposing a candidate during Saturday’s House of Representatives primary election.

Some party members who spoke with WesternLifeNewsNG alleged that primaries were not conducted in most of the designated centres across the constituency.

The aggrieved members further claimed that several party faithful were allegedly harassed and intimidated by certain leaders, while some were threatened with arrest by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Despite the controversy surrounding the exercise, the party leadership later declared Ibrahim Olayode Iyiola winner of the APC primary election for the Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency.

Reacting to the outcome, one of the stakeholders, Mr. Adebayo Amun, described the process as a clear case of manipulation capable of affecting the party’s chances in the general election.

“I have never seen this kind of manipulation in my life. With the way things are turning out, the opposition may be the one to benefit because we cannot vote for an unpopular candidate,” he stated.

The allegations have further raised concerns over internal democracy and unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
