The Asiwaju Adini Musulumi of Ibadanland, Arc Hassan Olawale Giwa has called for joint efforts between the governments at all levels and the wealthy individuals to fight poverty in the country.
While enjoining, Muslims to pay attention to and emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammed, he also emphasised that alleviating poverty is a major way of achieving a peaceful environment.
The advice was contained in a statement issued to felicitate with Muslims on the occasion of the 2023 Maulud Nabiyy celebration on Wednesday.
The philanthropist, in his goodwill message issued in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, pointed out that love, mutual and peaceful co-existence and sacrifice were the virtues that Muhammad exhibited during his lifetime.
The HOG Foundation founder appealed to Nigerians irrespective of religious affiliation to join hands with the President Bola Tinubu led-administration to tackle the challenges of hunger.
Arc Giwa called on Muslims to use this year’s Maulud Nabiyy to pray for the speedy recovery of the country’s sickening economy, saying that prayers remain the only solution to all challenges.
The Chief Executive Officer of Amron Global Service Limited urged Muslims to continually preach peace and mutual co-existence among different religious groups in the country.
He congratulated the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and Council and all Islamic scholars and spiritual fathers on the occasion of this year’s celebration of Maulud Nabiyy.
Giwa, therefore, called on the wealthy people in the country to extend their philanthropic gesture to the less privileged people within their vicinity.
“I want to use this medium to appeal to the well-to-do people in the society to support the governments in alleviating poverty in the country. Things are hard, this period is hard and all the palliatives provided by the government can not solve the level of poverty in the land. We have to help ourselves by serving as one brother’s keeper. Let us support the government to support our people who are less privileged,” the statement concluded.
