It was a moment of nostalgia, appreciation and giving back on Monday as Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul commemorated the 40th anniversary of his graduation from Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Aperin Oniyere, Ibadan, with a special homecoming celebration tagged “A Day in My School.”
The event brought together friends, family members, old classmates and well-wishers to celebrate what Mogaji Igbinsola described as “the grace of God” upon his life and journey since leaving the institution four decades ago.
The memorable day began with his participation in the school’s morning assembly alongside current students, creating a symbolic bridge between generations. This was followed by a tour of the school compound, where he inspected both the old and newly developed structures, reflecting on the transformation of the institution over the years.
One of the emotional highlights of the visit was his return to his former classroom, old Class 5E, now known as SSS 2C, where he reunited with memories of his student days.
As part of activities marking the celebration, Mogaji Igbinsola presented a security support cheque to the school management and also donated Ileya palliatives to members of staff at the principal’s office. The gesture was widely applauded as a meaningful contribution toward the welfare and development of the school community.
A session of commemorative photographs followed, capturing the reunion between the celebrant, school officials, teachers and old classmates.
The celebration continued with a break-time feast with fellow alumni of SSS 2C, before rounding off with special prayers and entertainment at Bethelcity Sports Bar, Adesola, Ibadan.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Mogaji Igbinsola said the celebration was not only to mark 40 years after graduation but also to appreciate God’s faithfulness and reconnect with the institution that helped shape his life.
He also extended an open invitation to friends, associates and residents of Ibadan to join him in celebrating the memorable occasion.
The event was widely seen as a remarkable display of gratitude, remembrance and commitment to giving back to one’s roots.
