Rev. Dr. S. A. Farounbi, a seasoned administrator and cleric, will on Monday, September 14, 2026, bow out of the Oyo State Local Government Service after an illustrious career spanning more than three decades.
Farounbi, who is currently the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Saki West Local Government, will retire from active public service upon attaining the statutory retirement age, coinciding with the celebration of his 60th birthday.
He is, however, not retiring from active engagement with society, as the respected administrator and clergyman is set to devote his post-public service years to full-time church ministry.
Farounbi commenced his career in the Oyo State Local Government Service on April 1, 1992, and over the past 34 years distinguished himself through commitment, professionalism, integrity, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.
Throughout his career, he served in several Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas across Oyo State, where his administrative experience, diligence and exemplary character earned him recognition among colleagues and stakeholders.
His postings took him through Oorelope, Itesiwaju, Ogbomoso North, Atisbo, Iseyin, Ogbomoso South, Ibarapa Central and Olorunsogo Local Governments, as well as Surulere South LCDA, Atisbo South LCDA and Oriire Local Government, before his final posting to Saki West Local Government, where he served as HOLGA.
Beyond the positions he occupied, Farounbi’s years in the Local Government Service were marked by a reputation for responsible leadership, effective administration and principled conduct. In every place he served, he was regarded as an administrator who approached his responsibilities with dedication and professionalism.
His retirement therefore marks the end of a remarkable chapter in a career devoted to public administration and the development of the grassroots governance system in Oyo State.
Beyond his public service career, Farounbi has also devoted considerable time to the Christian ministry. He established and nurtured Royal Chapel International, which he has managed and developed over the years into a growing ministry with branches in various states across Nigeria. Through the ministry, he has raised and produced ministers of God, while also helping many indigent young people discover purpose and direction in life.
With his transition into full-time ministry, Farounbi will now be able to devote greater attention to the church and to the lives of the many people he has inspired, mentored and supported over the years. His new phase of service is therefore a continuation and expansion of a calling he has pursued alongside his public career.
As he clocks 60 and formally leaves the Local Government Service, Farounbi begins another phase of his life with a clear commitment to the Christian ministry, bringing into it the same discipline, integrity and dedication that characterised his years in public service.
