Owerri Communities Assembly Pays Courtesy Visit To Rector Of Federal Polytechnic Nekede

In a remarkable show of solidarity and community engagement, the leadership of Owerri Communities Assembly (OCA), under the dynamic stewardship of its President General, Hon. Comr. Ogueri Emeanaa, on Friday, 15th August 2025, paid a high-powered courtesy visit to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Igbokwe.

The visit, described as both historic and heartwarming, was aimed at strengthening ties between the institution and the Owerri people, while also celebrating the remarkable strides of the Rector.

During the visit, the OCA executives congratulated Dr. Igbokwe on her well-deserved appointment, commended her for the outstanding achievements recorded since assuming leadership, and expressed appreciation for the employment opportunities and admissions that had been granted to sons and daughters of Owerri in the last.

They also appealed for more employment and admission slots in future exercises, while presenting other issues geared towards the growth and progress of Owerri Nshi-Ise.

In a statement by Noble Uchegbu Uchechukwu Zachariah, the Special Assistant to the Rector on Media Matters, Dr. Igbokwe in her response, expressed immense gratitude to OCA for the thoughtful visit and reassured the community of her commitment to inclusivity and mutual growth.

She promised guaranteed admission for any qualified Owerri indigene who meets the minimum requirements, possible placement opportunities for Owerri sons and daughters in future employment exercises, and a strengthened cordial relationship between the institution and OCA for mutual benefit.

She also encouraged indigenes to take advantage of the ongoing Direct Entry admissions, noting that Federal Polytechnic Nekede remains the most sought-after polytechnic in Nigeria.

The visit ended on a note of optimism and renewed partnership. With her reassuring words and people-centered leadership, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe continues to build bridges across borders, fostering harmony, inclusiveness, and progress within the polytechnic community and beyond.
