The Ibadan Chapter of the Olivet Baptist High School Old Students Association held its third annual Health Walk, titled “Walk 4 Life,” this past weekend.
The event, aimed at promoting health fitness, was a significant success, drawing participation from notable alumni and members of their families.
Sponsored by Barrister Akeem Agbaje, the event received additional support from prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR), Mr. Adebowale Olufemi Awakan; Dr. Wale Okediran, Secretary General of the Pan Africa Writers Association and National President of the association; and Mr. Olawale Awomolo, among others.
Alhaja Temitope Kolawole, Chairperson of the Ibadan Chapter, highlighted the purpose of the walk, stating its role in raising awareness about the association and encouraging alumni residing in Ibadan to join.
She noted that the previous editions of the Health Walk had significantly boosted membership, with the chapter now boasting a strong and active community.
Kolawole praised the efforts of the organizing committee, led by Mr. Babatunde Aminu, and expressed gratitude to the sponsors and members for their unwavering support.
Shealso suggested the possibility of increasing the frequency of the event to twice a year, given its success and impact.
Mr. Awakan, an alumnus of the school and a key supporter of the event, stressed the importance of maintaining the Health Walk as an ongoing tradition.
He pointed out that regular participation in such activities not only promotes physical well-being but also enhances productivity in the workplace.
The Health Walk, which spanned over an hour, saw participants journeying from the Oyo State Secretariat to the Bodija Market axis, reinforcing the community spirit and commitment to health that the association seeks to foster.
