A nursing mother, who had traveled from Katsina state, shared her tragic story. “My husband was killed by bandits in Katsina,” she revealed, holding her baby tightly. “I came to protest the hardship in Nigeria, and now the police are shooting tear gas at us.

Do they also want to kill my baby? People cannot eat. Things are hard.”

The economic strain has been severe, with the prices of food and basic commodities skyrocketing.

In response to these economic hardships, civil society groups and concerned citizens have taken to the streets in some parts of the country and federal capital territory, to voice their grievances and demand relief from the government.
