Dr. Temidayo Oniosun, a Nigerian-born space scientist, entrepreneur, and investor, is fast becoming one of the most influential voices in the global space and technology sectors.

As the Founder and Managing Director of Space in Africa, the continent’s leading market intelligence firm in the space and satellite sector, and Trappist Labs, an R&D company building frontier technologies for Africa, Dr. Oniosun is leading transformative innovation across the continent.

Widely respected for his strategic work with governments, multinational corporations, and international organizations, Oniosun plays a key role in shaping Africa’s space ambitions. He currently serves as a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Africa Center, where he is leading the newly established African Space Program.

His global contributions also include his roles as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Space Technologies and as a research affiliate at the MIT Media Lab.

Oniosun’s entrepreneurial reach spans beyond aerospace. Through Trappist Labs, he has launched two major climate-focused ventures — Climate in Africa and Miri, both dedicated to climate data collection and environmental monitoring. Notably, LASEPA (Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency) is among the flagship partners of these projects.

An active angel investor, Dr. Oniosun has backed over 40 African startups across sectors like climate, fintech, logistics, and data. His dedication to fostering Africa’s technological and entrepreneurial ecosystem has earned him global recognition. He became the first African named a Karman Fellow in 2020 and was listed in Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 in 2021.

Dr. Oniosun holds a B.Tech in Meteorology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure; a Master’s degree in Satellite Applications from the University of Strathclyde in the UK; and a PhD from the University of Delaware.
