Nigerian rapper Olamide has once again solidified his legendary status in the music industry with the release of his latest EP, ‘Ikigai.’
The project has set a new record for the most opening day streams by a project on Spotify Nigeria in 2024, amassing an impressive 1.86 million streams within the first 24 hours.
This feat surpasses the previous record held by Shallipopi’s ‘Shakespopi,’ which garnered 1.59 million streams.
This milestone further cements Olamide’s position as the most streamed African rapper on Spotify, building on his previous success with the 2020 album ‘Carpe Diem,’ which remains the most streamed album by a Nigerian rapper on the platform.
‘Ikigai’ features collaborations with notable YBNL superstars Fireboy and Asake on the track ‘Uptown Disco,’ as well as contributions from former YBNL associates Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh on ‘Synchro System.’
The EP’s remarkable first-day performance is a testament to Olamide’s enduring appeal and influence in the Nigerian music scene.
