The Federal Polytechnic Nekede is set to host its highly anticipated Rector’s Solemn Assembly, Thanksgiving Service, Christmas Carol and Award Ceremony on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in what promises to be a colourful celebration of gratitude, unity and institutional excellence.
The event, themed “Overflowing Gratitude,” will take place at the 1,000 Capacity Auditorium of the institution, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
According to the Special Assistant to the Rector on Media Matters, Noble Uchegbu Uchechukwu Zachariah, the ceremony has been carefully packaged to reflect the polytechnic’s culture of excellence and community bonding.

Highlights of the programme include the second edition of the Walkathon, a pre-event press conference, red carpet interviews, a solemn assembly and thanksgiving service, Christmas carol renditions, awards and honours, as well as spoken-word presentations.
Ahead of the main event, a press conference will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with notable media organisations already accredited to participate. Among them are NTA, AriseTV, Sun Newspaper, Announcer Express, Horn Newspaper, Newsalert.net, Frontline Express, Westernlife Online Newspaper, Newscorner Online Newspaper, GraceTV, AlaigboTV, ECN Media Consult, IPR Media Crew, SUG Media Crew and the Mass Communication Department Media Team.

Red carpet interviews will hold in two phases, the first between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., while the second phase will resume during the awards and spoken-word segment.
To ensure global visibility and seamless participation, the institution’s ICT Directorate and GraceTV will provide live transmission through projector screens, Zoom and Facebook Live. Event management will be coordinated by the SA Media Matters in collaboration with the MC team, protocol unit and the security department.

Organisers have also rolled out coverage protocols, stating that only accredited media personnel will be granted access to designated camera points, while movement around the stage area will be restricted.
Guests using phone cameras have been advised to remain seated to avoid obstructing visibility. Unaccredited cameramen will not be allowed into coverage areas, with security personnel mandated to enforce full compliance.
“These measures are in place to enhance orderliness and ensure world-class event packaging,” Zachariah noted.

The institution urges all invited guests, staff, students and stakeholders to participate fully in the celebration of gratitude and excellence.
