Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency have welcomed the directive of the party’s national leadership ordering that results of the National Assembly primary elections should only be announced at the party’s national headquarters.

The development, according to party faithful in the constituency, has restored confidence in the credibility of the primary process and doused tension generated by earlier claims of victory by one of the aspirants, Ibrahim Iyiola Dudu.

Speaking with WesternLifeNewsNG on Tuesday, a prominent APC stalwart in the constituency, who pleaded anonymity, described the decision of the national leadership as “a timely and commendable intervention.”

He maintained that the directive has effectively invalidated what he termed the “premature and questionable declaration” of Dudu as winner of the primary election.

According to the party chieftain, many members and stakeholders in the constituency had earlier raised concerns over alleged irregularities and manipulation surrounding the conduct of the exercise in some voting centres.

“We have now been vindicated. The earlier announcement in favour of Dudu did not follow due process, and majority of party members viewed it as fraudulent and unacceptable,” the source stated.

The stakeholder added that the national leadership’s decision would help protect the integrity of the party’s internal democratic process and ensure that only authentic and verified results are recognised.
