The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded results from 2,862 of the 3,763 polling units where voting took place in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
WesternLifeNewsNG understands the uploaded results represented 76.06 per cent of the total polling units across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas.
The development followed an earlier report that INEC had commenced the electronic uploading of polling unit results to the IReV portal shortly after voting ended.
A total of 15 political parties participated in the election, with Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party among the candidates seeking to lead the state for another term.
Meanwhile, the uploading of results is ongoing as officials continue with the collation and electronic transmission of results from various polling units across the state.
More results are expected to be uploaded to the portal as the collation process progresses.
Meanwhile, going by the results uploaded so far, the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke is taking a lead ahead his closest rival, Mr Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.
