A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, has intensified efforts to reconcile aggrieved aspirants and strengthen unity within the party ahead of future elections.
The reconciliation move comes amid growing tension among supporters of various aspirants contesting for party tickets across constituencies and elective positions in the state.
Adedoja, a former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, has commenced separate consultations with affected aspirants in a bid to prevent internal divisions that could weaken the party’s chances at the polls.
Speaking on the initiative, the former Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate in Oyo State said the mediation effort is aimed at ensuring that unsuccessful aspirants remain committed to the APC after the primaries.
According to him, adopting his reconciliation template would encourage those who failed to secure tickets to work harmoniously with eventual candidates during campaign activities.
He stressed that every aspirant remains important to the growth and future of the party and should be carried along through dialogue and negotiations.
Drawing from his political experience, Adedoja noted that all interests within the party must be accommodated to sustain unity, especially considering the current political situation in Oyo State.
He further revealed that he had already held discussions with some dissatisfied aspirants, appealing to them to embrace sportsmanship and continue supporting the APC.
