The people of Ibadan and members of the JDS/PBAT Movement across the 33 local government areas and 351 wards of Oyo State on Monday trooped out in large numbers at the Liberty Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, to welcome the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during the launch of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), Oyo State chapter.
The State Coordinator of the JDS/PBAT, Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul, described the massive turnout as a demonstration of the people’s confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and their optimism about the 2027 presidential election.
Igbinsola said the turnout showed that many residents were hopeful that President Tinubu would be given another opportunity to consolidate his administration and advance his Renewed Hope agenda if re-elected in 2027.
He commended the founder and principal of the JDS/PBAT Movement, Chief Jibril Dotun Sanusi, Okanlomo Oduduwa and Gbonka Olubadan, for his efforts in mobilising various groups to welcome the First Lady.
According to him, artisans, market women, social groups, religious leaders and other stakeholders across the state participated actively in the event, which he described as a strong indication of the growing political influence of the JDS/PBAT Movement.
Igbinsola also appreciated traditional rulers, including Kabiyesis, Baales and Mogajis, as well as Christian, Muslim and traditional religious leaders who attended the event and offered prayers for the success of President Tinubu and the country.
He expressed confidence that the group would play a significant role in the political developments leading to the 2027 elections, stressing that the organisation would soon embark on voter-card verification and membership mobilisation ahead of its formal declaration of support for President Tinubu.
The coordinator said the movement remained committed to strengthening its structures across Oyo State and working towards the success of President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He further described Chief Sanusi as a major political stakeholder whose influence, according to him, would be significant in determining the direction of Oyo State politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
Igbinsola said the JDS/PBAT members in Oyo State would continue to work assiduously towards mobilising support for the President, expressing optimism that the administration’s programmes and policies would yield positive results for Nigerians.
He therefore urged members and supporters of the movement to remain united, organised and committed as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
