Enugu witnessed a rare convergence of brilliance, gratitude, and celebration on Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA), alongside an array of distinguished academics, government officials, alumni leaders, family members, and friends, gathered to celebrate the 60th birthday of one of its most revered icons, Prof. Florence Onyebuchi Orabueze, the First Female Deputy National President of the Association.
The memorable occasion, held at the elegant Uwandu Hall of Hotel Sunshine, Enugu, was more than a birthday celebration; it was a tribute to six decades of impactful living, exceptional scholarship, purposeful leadership, and unwavering service to humanity.
The day commenced on a deeply spiritual note with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at Maria Rosa Mystica Catholic Church, Brick Houses, Republic Layout, Enugu. Among the notable personalities present were the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba; the Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Aloysius Okolie; the National President of the University of Nigeria Alumni Association, Her Royal Highness Queen Ugochi Linda Agua-Onyekwelu, PhD; the National Publicity Secretary of UNAA, Noble Uchegbu Uchechukwu Zachariah; and several distinguished scholars, public officials, alumni executives, traditional title holders, and community leaders.
