The 3rd edition of the International Students’ Film Festival (ISFF), hosted by Imo State University from November 19th to 21st, 2025, concluded with excitement, creativity, and cultural exchange, and the Mass Communication students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede were right at the heart of it.
Their participation was made possible through the unwavering support of the institution’s visionary Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, whose leadership continues to open new doors for practical learning and global exposure. Under her watch, the Polytechnic has witnessed a deliberate push toward experiential education, giving students opportunities that sharpen both skill and character.

The festival, which featured film screenings, workshops, masterclasses, and cross-cultural dialogue, offered three unforgettable days of artistic brilliance and cinematic discovery. For the participating students, it was not just an event, it was a transformative journey. They engaged with budding filmmakers, interacted with industry experts, and immersed themselves in diverse perspectives that broadened their creative horizons.
Acknowledging the Rector’s commitment to students’ development, the participants expressed heartfelt appreciation for her decision to release one of the institution’s recently refurbished chassis Coaster buses for the trip. The gesture ensured a seamless, safe, and comfortable journey, further demonstrating her consistent dedication to student welfare and academic enrichment.
Gratitude also goes to Dr. Linda Ikechukwu, the indefatigable Head of the Department of Mass Communication, whose swift and effective coordination made the students’ participation possible. Her leadership ensured that the team represented the Polytechnic with excellence and discipline throughout the festival.
Returning home inspired, the students described the ISFF as a rare blend of learning, discovery, and cultural immersion. It expanded their worldview and strengthened their passion for storytelling, visual expression, and global relevance.
Under the stewardship of Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, fondly referred to as the Rector of Grace, Federal Polytechnic Nekede continues to shine as an institution where academic theory meets real-world experience. With each opportunity she facilitates, students are empowered to explore, excel, and envision a future beyond boundaries.
