The Federal Polytechnic Nekede continues its steady rise as a centre of excellence, thanks to the visionary leadership of its Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, whose TetFund-attracted projects are reshaping the institution’s academic and innovation landscape. One of the newest testaments to this transformation is the newly renovated and fully upgraded Career Service Center, a space that now stands as a model of modern educational support and student empowerment.

Recently, a delegation of appraising officials from TetFund visited the renovated Career Service Center for assessment, and the verdict was overwhelmingly positive. The delegates expressed deep satisfaction with the quality of work done, describing the centre as “a benchmark facility befitting a 21st-century Polytechnic.* They gave the project a resounding pass mark, noting that the space embodies efficiency, innovation, and the true spirit of capacity building.
The rejuvenated centre is equipped with an impressive array of state-of-the-art technologies designed to support career mentorship, digital literacy, and employability training. From high-tech desktop computers and sleek modern laptops to a massive mini-auditorium fitted with an ultra-modern projector and high-quality screen, the facility is primed for training sessions, seminars, and professional development programmes.
One of its standout features is its solar-powered energy system, which guarantees uninterrupted power supply, ensuring that students can learn, practice, and innovate without disruption. This sustainable addition reflects the institution’s commitment to green, efficient, and future-forward infrastructure.
Speaking during the appraisal visit, the Rector, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, expressed her joy and reaffirmed her commitment to creating student-centered facilities that meet global standards.
The Rector in her words stated that “this Career Service Center is more than a building; it is a gateway to opportunities. Our goal is to equip our students with the skills, exposure, and confidence they need to compete anywhere in the world. I am grateful to TetFund for their support and proud of the team that brought this dream to fruition.”
She further noted that the upgraded centre will serve as a vibrant hub for counseling, internship placement support, entrepreneurship guidance, and employability enhancement.
Dr. Igbokwe reiterated that, “We are building a kind of Polytechnic where innovation and practical readiness thrive. This is just one of many steps toward raising graduates who are not only employable but industry-ready,” she added.
As the institution prepares to unveil more TetFund-supported interventions, the Career Service Center stands as a shining example of what visionary leadership, accountability, and collaboration can produce. With cutting-edge tools and an enabling environment, Federal Polytechnic Nekede is charting a new path for skills development in Nigeria.
