He hosted a memorable occasion that attracted dignitaries from within and outside the Polytechnic community. The day was enriched with diverse cultural performances, displays of heritage, and exchanges of thought-provoking Igbo proverbs in line with long-standing traditions.

In continuation of the activities, HRM, Eze Comr. Ekeh Bright Emeka led fellow Royal Fathers on a courtesy visit to the Rector on Friday, 15th August 2025.

During the visit, the Eze congratulated Dr. Igbokwe for running a peaceful and inclusive administration since her assumption of office, noting that the Royal Fathers remain vital partners in projecting Igbo cultural heritage among students. To further strengthen this, he presented architectural designs and requested approval for the establishment of a Royal Fathers’ Chamber (Obi).

Responding, the Rector commended the Royal Fathers for successfully hosting the cultural day and fostering unity within their association. While acknowledging the importance of cultural expressions, she reminded them that the Polytechnic’s primary objective remains academic pursuit, which must never be compromised. She, however, directed them to submit a detailed proposal for the Royal Fathers’ Chamber (Obi) for due consideration.

As part of the visit, HRM, Eze Comr. Ekeh presented the Rector with an Award of Distinguished Leadership. The Polytechnic Bursar, Mrs. Adanne Chinyere Ojiuko, joined in receiving the honour. In line with tradition, the Royal Fathers also presented a goat as homage to the Rector, a symbolic gesture that underscored the authenticity of their cultural association.

The act was widely admired as it showcased the blend of traditional reverence and campus cultural vibrancy. The visit concluded with a group photograph featuring the Rector, Registrar, Bursar, Royal Fathers’ Patron (Nze Obinna), and other Royal Fathers present.

Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Igbokwe has continued to demonstrate her commitment to preserving and projecting cultural values within the Polytechnic community. Her administration remains all-embracing, ensuring that culture, tradition, and education walk hand in hand, thereby strengthening the identity of Igboland within the institution.
