Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and current senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has once again criticised the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing it of mismanaging the country and leaving behind a battered economy for President Bola Tinubu to inherit.
Speaking during a televised interview on Channels TV aired on Tuesday, Oshiomhole stated that the current administration under President Tinubu inherited a severely damaged economic system, which has made it difficult to deliver quick results.
“Based on the economic environment inherited by this government, we would have expected that in 24 months, they would have fixed all those problems and Nigeria will be back,” Oshiomhole said, acknowledging that while citizens may be expecting swift change, the challenges left behind are deeply rooted.
The former Edo State governor did not mince words about the condition of the nation’s economy at the time of the power transition in 2023.
“Truly, truly, this country was badly mismanaged, the economy was badly mismanaged. This is not to blame anyone but to state the fact,” he added.
Oshiomhole’s comments mark one of the most pointed criticisms of the Buhari administration from within the ruling party, coming at a time when the Tinubu government is under increasing pressure to address rising inflation, naira devaluation, and widespread hardship across the country.
Observers note that his remarks reflect a broader debate within the APC about the legacy of the Buhari years and the urgent need to manage public expectations as Tinubu’s administration approaches its second year in office.
