Legendary Nigerian singer and actress Onyeka Onwenu has passed away at the age of 72.
She reportedly died on Tuesday night at Reddington Hospital in Lagos after collapsing during Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday party.
Onwenu will be fondly remembered for her music albums such as “In The Morning Light” and “Dancing In The Sun,” as well as her roles in films like “Half of a Yellow Sun” and “Lionheart.”
President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences, describing Onwenu as a versatile and extremely gifted artist who brought joy and laughter to many through her artistic endeavors.
