A United States-trained clinical social worker and politician, Ebenezer Oluseye Gbaroye, has declared his intention to contest for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the Accord ahead of the 2027 general election.

Gbaroye made his declaration on Saturday shortly after obtaining his interest and nomination forms at the Oyo State Secretariat of the party in Ibadan.

Speaking with journalists, the aspirant said his decision to join Accord was informed by the party’s grassroots orientation and its commitment to the welfare of the people.

According to him, although he had been a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for many years, he believed Accord provides a better platform to actualise his vision for the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

He said, “Accord has always been close to the people at the grassroots. I believe the party will afford me the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals who are genuinely interested in the welfare of our people.

“We are often referred to as a rural area, but we are not rural because we have enormous untapped potential. I believe Accord will provide the platform to actualise our dreams by bringing support, encouragement and development to our people.”

The federal constituency aspirant noted that his professional background as a licensed clinical social worker and social welfare policy expert in the United States has equipped him with the experience needed to impact lives positively through effective representation.

Gbaroye said he was entering the race with clear legislative plans, stressing that he had already compiled several pro-people bills over the last six years.

“I’m not going there to start thinking about what to do. I already have bills I intend to sponsor immediately by the grace of God. I have been working on them and updating them so that I can hit the ground running from day one in the House of Representatives,” he said.

The aspirant further pledged to focus on agricultural development, youth empowerment and attracting investments to the constituency through his international connections if elected.

He also promised to ensure that opportunities meant for constituents would no longer be diverted for personal gains.

“I want to bring the dividends of democracy to the grassroots. I will use my influence and international connections to attract investments into the constituency and create opportunities for our youths,” he added.
