​OWERRI, IMO STATE — In a robust demonstration of visionary leadership and proactive governance, Alhaji Rabe Mudi, the newly appointed Chairman of the 15th Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri (FPNO), embarked on an extensive, day-long facility tour across the institution’s main campus on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
​Accompanied by the Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Basillia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, alongside key Principal Officers, Alhaji Rabe Mudi’s tour traversed critical academic, administrative, and industrial hubs across the campus. The comprehensive inspection began at the Registry Division before moving through the Bursary Division, the Block Industry, the Chinese Language Center, the Directorate of Skill Development Center, the Fabrication Center, and the Technological Entrepreneurship Development Center (TEDC).
​The delegation also inspected key campus enterprise and capital projects, including the Polytechnic Water Factory, Tissue Factory, School of General Studies (SGS) building project, the ongoing Medical Complex, the futuristic ICT Hub project, as well as the Central Polytechnic Library and its specialized Binding Center.
​A Rigorous Evaluation of Enterprise and Infrastructure
​Demonstrating a hands-on management approach, Alhaji Rabe Mudi conducted a meticulous and rigorous assessment of each site, paying particular attention to the viability, operational efficiency, and commercial sustainability of the Polytechnic’s profit-generating ventures.
​Speaking on the strategic importance of optimal resource utilization during the tour, Alhaji Rabe Mudi remarked:
“Federal Polytechnic Nekede possesses immense internal capacity, technical ingenuity, and human capital. Our goal is not merely to maintain existing structures, but to transform every practical hub and commercial venture into an engine of self-sufficiency, innovation, and educational excellence. Where intervention is required—be it in modernizing equipment or completing critical infrastructure like our ICT Hub and Medical Complex, the Council, in synergy with Management, will take swift, proactive, and decisive measures to ensure no project lingers.”

​Expressing profound appreciation for the Chairman’s detailed assessment, the Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Basillia Nkemdilim Igbokwe commended Alhaji Rabe Mudi’s early momentum and alignment with the institution’s overarching vision.
