Yoruba Youths Mourn Demise Of Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson

Grand Council of Yoruba Youths (Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba) has expressed deep sympathy on the death of Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson, who died at the age of 72.

The group described her death as collosal loss, not to Yoruba nation alone but to Nigeria.

In a statement by the National President of the group, Awa Bamiji, the late Educationist was devoted to promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition in her lifetime.

“The critical issue of promotion of Yoruba Language, Culture and Tradition brought us, Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths and the deceased, together over two decades ago and in the process, we were able to discover other areas of her specilisation,” the statement read in part.

Mrs Lawson who was a former National President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) as well as the founder of the popular Alaba Lawson Group of Schools, Abeokuta, died on October 28, 2023.

“The news of her demise came to us as a rude shock because it was least expected but we thank God Almighty for her life that she came, she saw and she conquered.

May her soul rest in peace. Adieu! The Epitome of Yoruba Culture and Tradition, Iyalode of Yorubaland, home and abroad,” the statement concluded.
