Worldwide Anglican Church Advocates for Children’s Rights

As the world celebrate the International Day of Children, the Worldwide Anglican Church (WAC) has urged the world leaders to do everything possible to protect the rights of the children.

In a statement issued by the Church’s International Communications Director (ICD), Bishop Seun Adeoye on behalf of WAC Patriarch, Archbishop Lwanga Tusubira, in commemoration of 2024 Children Day anniversary, leaders were advised to execute policies that will give adequate protection and support to the children.

The statement reads, “It is sad seeing children killed and maimed during wars they virtually know nothing about, ravaged by hunger, faced by underage marriages and forced labours and ruined by diseases just because of the failures of adults who ruled over the nations”.

The Church urged adults to stop greed for wealth and power and embrace peace rather than planting the seeds of hatred for the sake of the children and the generations yet unborn.

“Today, we witness several thousands of children in places such as Sudan, Ukraine, Haiti and Palestine facing extreme violence, unrest, malnutrition, poverty and other societal menaces. All these anomalies should be avoided.

“Children everywhere deserve protection and education. We all need to work hard to get theses children caught in the crossfire adequate health care, good nutrition and shelter”.

The church promised that with its presence in about 100 countries across the globe, it will support both the UNICEF, UNESCO and other government agencies in their onerous tasks in ensuring good and abundant life for children.
