...As Pan Yoruba Youth Group Celebrates the activist’s wife 80th birthday

The Grand Council of Yoruba Youths (Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba) has concluded plan to hold an event in remembrance of late activist, Comrade Ola Oni in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

Oni, a Nigerian marxist political economist, socialist and human right activist died in 1999.

Expected to grace the event scheduled for August 5, 2023 are President Bola Tinubu and Southwest past and present governors.

Other special guests of honour include royal fathers, members of civil society organisations, trade unionists, government functionaries and host of other personalities.

Royal Fathers of the day are His Imperial Majesty Oba Mahud Olalekan Alli Okunmade II, Olubadan of Ibadanland and Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, Oore of Otun – Ekiti, Ekiti State.

According to the programme of events made available to public by the group`s president, Awa Bamiji, two lectures titled, “24 Years of Nigerian Civil Rule Without Ola – Oni Inputs” and “How Comfortable Are The Ola – Oni Followers?”, will be delivered by Comrade Ola – Oni Protege and his Old Student in Polytechnics, Ibadan, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, immediate past Minister of Interior, and Comrade (Barrister) Femi Aborisade, respectively.

Comrade Moshood Erubami, Converner, Voters’ Assembly is billed to chair the programme while Mr Tokunbo Ajasin, and Princess Olabisi Sangodoyin, will be the father and mother of the day, respectively.

The highlight of the day will be the celebration of the 80th birthday of the widow of the late activist, Mrs Kehinde Oni and her twin sister, Taiwo Adesida.

The event holds inside House of Chiefs, Beside House of Assembly, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State.
