Tinubu Asserts Independence From Cabal, Promises Improved Social Welfare Amid Protest Threats

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has stated his administration is free from the influence of any cabal, insisting that his personal funds were used for his election campaign, and he remains unaccountable to any external groups.

Speaking to a delegation of Islamic leaders led by Sheikh Bala Lau at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu highlighted that despite challenges like bank closures during his campaign, divine intervention secured his victory.

He underscored his commitment to following divine guidance in his presidency.

Tinubu asserted that a clear conscience is a powerful defense against corruption and stated the importance of focusing on the future of Nigeria’s youth.

He urged that citizens be taught the values of good and responsible citizenship.

Addressing the threat of planned nationwide protests, Tinubu called on organisers to reconsider, warning that such actions fueled by anger could lead to violence and hinder national progress.

The president assured his administration’s dedication to addressing Nigerians’ needs, including enhancing social welfare schemes at the local level and providing financial support for education and consumer credit.

Tinubu however slammed protest sponsors for prioritising personal ambitions over national interests, accusing them of lacking true patriotism.

He cautioned against letting anger and hate drive political actions, noting that some protest organizers are overseas and disconnected from the realities in Nigeria.

Sheikh Bala Lau, leading the delegation, pledged support through prayers and awareness efforts.
