A Nigerian media practitioner, Mr Wasiu Olaitan Adeyanju who has gone into hiding since April, this year, over a threat to his life has revealed his ordeal in the hands of bandits operating in the Northern part of the country.
Till date, the whereabout of Mr Adeyanju, who runs media outlets both in Zamfara and Lagos State, his wife and two Children were unknown.
Speaking from his hideout, to our correspondent, the journalist refused to disclosed his and family’s present location, insisting that the bandits operating in Zamfara state are still after his life and that of his family members.
WesternLifeNewsNG learnt that Adeyanju’s ordeal began when the bandits operating in Zamfara state considered his publications offensive, which according to them, exposed their mode of operation, resulting to the apprehension of some of the bandits.
As a result of this development, a manhunt was launched for his assassination and that of his family members. He was able to escape through the magnanimity of an informer.
“When the bandits stormed my office and home in Zamfara and discovered that I had escaped, they set the office ablaze. Unsatisfied with their destardedly act in Zamfara, they headed to my Lagos office and perpetrated the same crime,” embattled journalist disclosed from his hideout.
Mr Adeyanju told this online medium that the gang operates like a cartel and if he had not fled they would have killed him and his family.
He added that he and his immediate family members comprising of his wife and two children are presently hiding in an undisclosed location.
WesternLifeNewsNG can report that bandits attacks and operations have been on the increase in every part of Nigeria and there are many unfortunate incidences like that of Mr Adeyanju.
Many Nigerians have been urging Nigeria’s government to up their games by taming these mauruders as the citizens of Nigeria can no longer afford to live at the mercies of these evil doers.
