Taiwanese star Joe Chen, 44, was recently in Malaysia with her Johor-born husband, Alan Chen for Chinese New Year.
The actress, like most of us, found it hard to resist some festive season bingeing, revealing that she had put on almost 5kg during that period of time.
To lose weight for her upcoming projects, Joe underwent a special “grapefruit diet”, which includes adding the citrus fruit to all of her meals.
The result? She lost 3kg in the span of six days. Impressive, right?
Explaining how she dropped from 51.5kg to 48.5kg in less than a week, Joe wrote in a social media post: “I’m generally someone who finds it easy to shed pounds as long as I control my diet, so if I feel the need to watch my weight, I’ll follow this meal plan.”
Joe also shared details of her special diet.
Each of her fuss-free meals consisted of two boiled eggs and two slices of bacon, or three boiled eggs and greens, all coupled with a small bowl of grapefruit.
Basically, she needs to have grapefruit alongside all three daily meals and avoid consuming any flour-based products, and keep this regimen going for 12 days straight before taking a two-day break.
However, she also emphasised the importance of treating oneself. “You can’t continuously be on this diet,” she wrote.
“When trying to lose weight, you need to take care of your own emotions as well. I usually stick to this diet for seven days, or a set period of time, then give myself a break to eat things I actually love.”
She added: “[We] can have really stubborn fats, but we need to continue to work hard too.”
When asked by a fan if she ever consumed one meal a day while on the “grapefruit diet”, Joe explained that she still stuck to having three meals a day.
A netizen jokingly commented: “I think I might be able to stick to this meal plan for one meal, but we’ll have to see if it’s [feasible] for the entire day.”
Another wrote: “I’m very curious about this, it seems doable if I only have a single meal like that.”
