… Advise against labour strike and street protests
The Yoruba Patriots Movement and some civil society organisations have described the current hardship in the country as unfortunate, pleading with the citizens to exercise more patience and allow President Bola Tinubu to focus on the solution, he had already initiated which he has the distinctive competence in knowledge, capabilities and cognitive experience to do much better than any of the presidential candidates that stood election with him in the February 25, 2023.
The Groups made this known during a meeting convened by national co-ordinator of Next Level Consolidation Movement/Yoruba Patriots Movement (YPM), Barrister Oladosu Oladipo GCCF in his Bodija’s residence, Ibadan, Oyo state capital on Tuesday, to review the state of the nation.
In a communique signed by the convener and Secretary, Barrister Oladosu Oladipo and Comrade Awa Bamiji respectively, the meeting noted the hyperinflation, exchanging rate, insecurity currently brewing agitation in the country and urged Nigerians, especially the opposition parties to refrain from any pronouncement that may lead to untoward situation and political instability in the country.
The communique read, “The meeting advocated the urgent need by the people and government to save democracy.
“The meeting decried various protests being organised by some people, which is causing distractions to the noble reforms of President Bola Tinubu. We urged for more patience to allow the reforms to yield expected results in not too far days.
“The meeting evaluated the programmes of the current administration and urged every Nigerian both home and abroad to see the necessity in advocating for the success of Tinubu’s Administration.
“We called on concerned agencies saddled with the distribution of federal government palliatives to the people to ensuring probity in their assignments and equally urged the state governors to use the now increased monthly allocations availed to their respective states to create jobs and lift many out of poverty.
“The highpoint of resolutions reached at the meeting was convocation of Pan Yoruba Summit, which scheduled to hold on Monday, March 11, 2024.
According to the groups, those expected to participate at the summit include traditional rulers, market men and women, self determination groups, civil society organisations, artisans, students and general public.
The summit, themed “Defend and Stand by Renewed Hope Agenda For Next-Level Democracy Deliverables For All Nigeriand Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu” will deliberate on topical issues affecting democracy and sustainability of current dispensation.
The topic of the summit “It’s Time for Democrats To Stand And Defend Democracy” will be delivered by erudite scholar, Prof. Olu Aina.
