Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani condemned the violence that erupted during the recent nationwide protests in the North, suggesting that the unrest was an orchestrated attempt to destabilize the current administration.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sani alleged that money and foreign flags were distributed to the youths a day before the protests, indicating a deeper, more sinister motive behind the demonstrations.
Sani stated, “A day before the last protest, money was shared to the youths and Russian flags were also shared. That shows that the whole intent of the protest is not simply about the policies and programmes of the government.”
He said that the objective was to create an environment conducive to overthrowing the government, describing it as a script for anarchy, lawlessness, and disorder.
During the protests in Kaduna, Kano, and other northern states, demonstrators were seen waving Russian flags and calling for military intervention.
The #EndBadGovernance protests, which began on August 1 and are scheduled to last for ten days, demand the reversal of unfavourable government policies.
The protests have turned violent in several states, including Kano, Niger, and Jigawa, resulting in casualties.
Overthrowing is what i don’t support. Let have our peaceful protest to fight against the bad governance and the hardship in the land and the policies that doesn’t go well with us simple as that.
I mean overthrown is what I’m not in support of.
