In the true spirit of the season of goodwill and mutual fellowship, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, paid a warm Courtesy Visit to the Chairman, 15th Governing Council of the institution, Hon. Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, at his serene residence in Ikwuano, Umuahia, Abia State.
The visit, marked by elegance, warmth and institutional symbolism, saw the Rector accompanied by her husband, Dr. C. M. Igbokwe, alongside members of the Protocol and Media Teams of her office. The delegation was graciously received by the Council Chairman in his world-class, high-tech theatre home, an ambience that reflected both modern sophistication and traditional hospitality.
From the very first exchange of pleasantries, the atmosphere was cordial and familial. Laughter, handshakes and reflective conversations flowed freely as both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to the growth and stability of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede.
Speaking during the interaction, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe expressed profound appreciation to the Council Chairman for his consistent guidance and fatherly support to her administration.
“Honourable Chairman, this visit is first to appreciate God for His faithfulness over us as leaders, and to personally thank you for your unwavering support, wise counsel and firm belief in the vision of this administration,” the Rector said.
“Your leadership of the Governing Council has provided the stability and encouragement needed for us to drive reforms, deepen academic excellence and reposition Federal Polytechnic Nekede as a model institution. As we step into the new year, I look forward to even stronger collaboration in taking this Polytechnic to greater heights.”
She further noted that the season offered a moment for reflection, unity and renewed commitment to service, describing the synergy between Management and Council as “ the backbone of sustainable institutional development.”
In his response, Hon. Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh warmly welcomed the Rector and her entourage, commending her purposeful leadership style and the visible progress recorded under her watch.
“Madam Rector, your visit gladdens my heart. You have shown uncommon passion, discipline and vision in steering the affairs of Federal Polytechnic Nekede,”* the Chairman remarked.
“The Governing Council remains proud of your achievements and fully committed to supporting policies and programmes that will further elevate the institution. Together, we shall consolidate on the gains already made and pursue excellence without compromise in the new year.”
He described the Rector’s administration as one anchored on accountability, innovation and people-centred leadership, assuring her of continuous partnership as the Polytechnic charts new frontiers.
The visit climaxed with a lavish reception hosted by the Council Chairman, during which festival gifts were mutually exchanged, symbolizing respect, unity and shared responsibility.
Both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to make the coming year more engaging, impactful and transformative for the Federal Polytechnic Nekede community.
