It was a near-perfect campaign for the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Football Team at the just-concluded Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), hosted by Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State.
According to a statement released and signed on Sunday, by Noble Uchegbu Uchechukwu Zachariah, the Special Assistant to the Rector on Media Matters, the team under the strategic leadership of Coach Uchenna Kingsley Dim, comprising National Diploma and Higher National Diploma students displayed exceptional talent and teamwork—winning all their matches en route to the finals.
In a gripping finale against the host team, FedPolyNek finished as runners-up, following a decisive penalty awarded to the hosts. It was a fiercely contested tournament, and the team returned home with pride and the prestigious second-place trophy.
Led by the Sports Director, Dr. Simon Onyewenjo, the triumphant team formally presented the trophy to the Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe.
In her remarks, the Rector lauded the team’s courage, discipline, and relentless spirit. She commended their commitment to excellence and affirmed that their performance is a reflection of the winning ethos her administration is cultivating across all spheres of the institution.
