Renowned cleric, Prophet Israel Nasiri Oluwagbemidide, has called for a two-day fasting session to pray for the release of popular broadcaster and philanthropist, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat and Prophetess Naomi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife.
The duo is currently remanded at Agodi Correctional Facility, Ibadan, following their arraignment by a magistrate court in connection with a tragic stampede at a children’s funfair in Ibadan.
The unfortunate incident, which claimed the lives of several children, occurred during the event organized by Oriyomi and Naomi.
Despite the tragedy, Prophet Nasiri expressed his belief in their good intentions and urged the public to join in spiritual intervention.
Speaking during a church program on Thursday in Ibadan, the prophet announced that the fasting would take place on Friday and Sunday, emphasizing the need for divine intervention to ensure their release before the new year.
He also called on his congregation and well-meaning Nigerians to participate in the spiritual exercise, praying for justice and healing for all affected by the tragic event.
Prophet Nasiri reiterated that the duo’s aim was to create a joyful experience for children, a venture that sadly turned sour.
He pleaded for public understanding and compassion while emphasizing the importance of prayer in resolving the situation.
