Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Jide Jimoh, has condemned the heavy security presence that effectively shut down Kogi Central during Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s homecoming.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, he questioned the rationale behind the extreme measures, calling it a threat to political freedom and democracy in the state.

The senator’s visit faced strong resistance as security forces blocked all major roads leading to her destination.

However, in a strategic move that caught her opponents off guard, she arrived in Kogi via helicopter, bypassing the barricades.

Prof. Jimoh praised her resilience, noting that her approach showcased her ability to outmaneuver those attempting to suppress her engagement with the people.

“How can you shut down an entire senatorial district just because someone is trying to visit?” he asked.

“She was strategically ahead of her adversaries. I never expected her to use a helicopter, but she did, proving that she was well prepared.”
