{PHOTOS} Rector Leads FedPoly Nekede Delegation To Burial Of Fmr Council Chairman’s Wife

A high-powered delegation from the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, led by the Rector, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, paid a condolence visit to Owutu Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, to commiserate with Squadron Leader Chima Idika Chima (Rtd), former Council Chairman of the Polytechnic, over the passing of his beloved wife, Dr. Anne Chioma Chima.

The funeral, held at the premises of Government Secondary School, Owutu Edda, was a solemn event that drew mourners from across the country. Emotions ran deep as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the life of a woman widely admired for her faith, kindness, and compassion.

Born on February 8, 1966, to the late Elder Jonathan Obadiah Onwuamaegbu and Deaconess Mercy Agbajuwe Isiuwa, Dr. Anne hailed from Ogbuebulle Community in Oboro, Ikwuano LGA of Abia State. As the eldest of six siblings, she was known for her selflessness, devotion to family, and commitment to uplifting others. Her passing, which occurred on her 59th birthday, February 8, 2025 left a void in the lives of all who knew her.

During the funeral service, the officiating minister extolled Dr. Chima’s virtues, describing her as a God-fearing woman who lived a life of purpose, generosity, and faith.

In a statement by Noble Uchegbu Uchechukwu Zachariah, Special Assistant to the Rector on Media Matters, it quoted Dr. Igbokwe, in her tribute, expressed heartfelt condolences to Squadron Leader Chima, urging him to remain strong for the sake of his children. She praised his steadfast support for his late wife and commended his dedicated service as the 14th Council Chairman of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, under whose leadership the institution recorded remarkable progress.

Dr. Igbokwe also reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s continued support for the Chima family, noting that the presence of the delegation demonstrated the institution’s commitment to honoring the legacy of its past leaders and maintaining strong bonds with its extended community.

Dr. Anne Chioma Chima is survived by her husband, Squadron Leader Chima Idika Chima (Rtd), and their three children—Samuel Ifeanyichukwu, Maria Onyinyechi, and Favour Esther. She is also survived by her five siblings—Engr. Emmanuel Isiuwa, Mrs. Elizabeth Umoru, Mr. Nwachukwu Isiuwa, Mr. Festus Isiuwa, and Mrs. Abigail Egbe—as well as numerous relatives, friends, and admirers.

The Rector’s presence and the solidarity of the Polytechnic’s delegation served as a touching reminder of the enduring values of empathy, unity, and respect within the Federal Polytechnic Nekede community.
