Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who died in London on Saturday.
Obi shared his reaction to the news on his X handle, describing Ubah’s death as a shocking loss.
“I received a rude shock this morning with the news of the death of my dear younger brother, and Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.”
Reflecting on their recent interactions, Obi recalled being warmly welcomed by Ubah after attending Chief Pius Onwuzo’s burial in Nnewi, Anambra State, on July 12th. Obi also prayed for Ubah to find eternal rest.
“Senator Ubah personally welcomed me at the burial and invited me to his home for lunch, which I had to reschedule due to prior commitments.
During our conversation, he expressed understanding and support for my dedication to the progress of humanity, promising to work together despite our party differences.”
Obi commended Ubah for his humanitarian efforts through the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, which supports education and healthcare for the underprivileged.
“May God Almighty who called him home forgive his sins, grant him eternal rest, and give his family, the entire Anambra South Senatorial District, Anambra State, Nigeria, and all of us the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss. God Almighty protect and bless his family always.”
