Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has hailed the individuals who lost their lives during the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests, recognising them as martyrs who sacrificed for a better future for Nigeria.
In a heartfelt message on his X account, Obi extended condolences to the bereaved families, including those of fallen security personnel.
Obi stated that the deaths highlight the urgent need for leaders to listen to the people’s demands and address the root causes of the unrest.
He urged the government to tackle pressing issues like insecurity, corruption, and poverty, which fueled the protests.
Amnesty International reported that over 23 people died in clashes between police and protesters, condemning the police’s use of live ammunition.
