Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye has officially assumed office as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Udeh-Okoye, who previously served as the PDP National Youth Leader, succeeded Senator Samuel Anyanwu after the Court of Appeal upheld his appointment.
Speaking at the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat on December 30, 2024, Udeh-Okoye stated that his resumption was in line with the court’s judgment, which had been recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The PDP formally accepted the court’s decision last week, with party spokesperson Debo Ologunagba affirming Udeh-Okoye’s position.
Despite Senator Anyanwu’s appeal to the Supreme Court, sources confirmed that no stay of execution order has been obtained, leaving Udeh-Okoye to take charge.
He pledged to restore order at the party’s headquarters, which is currently operating with minimal staff during the Christmas holiday.
Udeh-Okoye expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership, including the Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, former ministers, and leaders from his zone, for their support during the transition.
