The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged misappropriation of N39 billion for the renovation of the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja, under the supervision of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Following an emergency roundtable in Abuja, the group described the renovation as a “case of Advanced Treasury Swindle,” questioning the justification for such a sum on an already functional facility.
In a statement by its chairman, Obinna Nwachukwu, CP-PDP demanded transparency on the project’s bidding process, bill of quantities, and due process documentation.
The group also criticised Wike for dismissing public concerns and accused FCT officials of contract inflation and non-compliance with financial regulations, particularly since the FCT was removed from Treasury Single Account (TSA) oversight.
The group noted the renovation cost exceeds the entire FCT agriculture budget of N8.3 billion for over three million residents.
The CP-PDP further condemned the renaming of the ICC after President Bola Tinubu, warning that such gestures do not shield the project from scrutiny or calls for accountability.
