Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, mentioned that she feels younger since they left the presidential villa. She said she would never go back because it was too stressful.
She made these comments during a speech about public relations, value reorientation, and economic transformation. This speech was given at an event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Patience said, “Nigeria is very stressful. If you ask me to go back to the villa, I won’t go. Can’t you see how young I look? The stress is too much.
If God takes you out of such stress, you should thank Him. I’m not going back.”
Talking about the 2015 presidential election, where her husband lost to Muhammadu Buhari, she said she did not encourage him to stay in power. She stated that Jonathan willingly stepped down without any fight.
She shared, “When we lost the election, I was with him. We were together when we got the news. I didn’t tell him to stay because it could lead to violence and innocent people might die. We are all one country and we don’t need any more bloodshed.”
