Oyo Speaker, Ogundoyin Congratulates 46th Alaafin, Oba Owoade On His Successful Coronation

The Oyo State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has congratulated the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Iku Baba Yeye, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Hakeem Owoade I, on his successful coronation to the stool of his forebears.

The Speaker congratulatory message was contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Communication, Alhaji Oyetunji Oyekunle, shortly after attending the coronation ceremony held in the ancient town of Oyo.

“I would like to earnestly congratulate the new Alaafin whose selection no doubt had been ordained by God and approved and embraced by his people, and I wish him a successful and fulfilling reign.

“The coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Hakeem Owoade I, as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo marks a significant milestone in the history of the ancient town.

“As a custodian of the rich Yoruba tradition and cultural heritage as well as the spiritual leader of Oyo kingdom, the Alaafin plays a critical role in promoting unity among our people in the state, region, nation, and the diaspora.

” I’m particularly filled with joy to witness and be part of this special Yoruba history of a lifetime, and optimistic our baba will bring his wealth of network to bear in the development of Oyo town.

“I’m also happy that his vast knowledge of cultural history and heritage will guide him to deepen the relationship between government and the traditional institution in the state and the entire Yorubaland.

“I specially commend His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his efforts in enhancing the sacredness and sanctity of our traditional institutions in Oyo State by his absolute neutrality from interference in the selection of traditional rulers in the state.

“I want to urge the people of Oyo town to rally behind their new king, and strive to work together to drive progress and prosperity. With Alaafin Owoade’s rulership, I am confident that the kingdom will not only flourish but prosper, and the people will continue to thrive.” Ogundoyin said.

Furthermore, the Speaker noted that the significant turnout of residents from the ancient town of Oyo and the roll call of dignitaries at the coronation ceremony from within Nigeria and across different parts of the world underscore the widespread acceptance and appreciation of Alaafin Owoade among his people.

This, he said was a promising start to his reign, and a good omen of great things to come.

The Speaker urged the people of Oyo town to rally behind their new monarch, emphasizing the importance of cooperation for rapid socioeconomic development.

He added that “By working together, Alaafin Abimbola Hakeem Owoade would be able to build on the legacies of his predecessors, fostering cultural preservation, development, and unity among the people of Oyo town.”
