Oyo LG Election: Voting Materials Arrive Late At Many Polling Units, As OYSIEC Conducts Peaceful Exercise

The Local Government Council Elections in Oyo State earlier today encountered some logistics hiccups as voting materials for the elections arrived late in various polling stations.

In most of the polling units, elections did not start until 9.00 am or thereabout. However, our correspondent who monitored election in Ona Ara local government said the voting started in some wards as earlier as 8.00 am.

Surprisingly in Ward 5, unit 1 of the local government, the voting had ended by 1.15 pm.

Both the  Peoples Democratic Party and All Peoples Congress agents at the pollng unit  told our correspondent that the voting started earlier in almost polling units in Amuloko. The two parties’ agents however confirmed the transparency of the exercise in their unit.

WesternlifenewsNG also noted that while there was fairly good turnout of voters in some places in Ibadan Northeast, Ona Ara, Southeast and few others, apathy marred the well publicised council polls in some local government areas.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSEIC since Friday had distributed sensitive and non-sensitive material for the elections to allow for earlier commencement of the process on Saturday.
