Members of the Oyo Alaafin Ambassadors, on Sunday, converged at Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Mini Stadium, Akesan, Oyo Town, to Mark 30 Years of impactive activities.
The event featured Annual General Meeting of the club , Awards and recongnition of founding members and a novelty football match between Oyo Ambassadors and Akinyele Living Legend, Ibadan .
The game ended 5 – 4 in favour of the away team, following a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time .
Speaking at the event, Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Prince Akeem Adeyemi popularly known as SKIMEH assured the team of continuous support .
Prince Adeyemi , who is the team manager, lauded the founding members of the club for the initiative.
Prince Akeem, recongnised on the occasion with an award for his gesture to the team, explained that Oyo Alaafin Ambassadors remain a force to rekcon with in the development of round leather game in the ancient town .
” We will continue to give Oyo Alaafin ambassadors necessary supports, the team has travelled far and near , I also travelled with the team on several occasions .
” Concerted effort s will be made to ensure we have league side in Oyo town, we have done it before and the team was doing great. Then, we had management issue but we make sure we bring back a professional football team, God spares our lives”
The President, Oyo Alaafin Ambassadors, Amb. Michael Dairo, expressed gratitude to God on the achievements and existence of the team .
Amb. Dairo , who spoke through his vice , Mr. Dotun Adeleke , said similar football team has emerged as a result of laudable programmes executed over the years by Oyo Alaafin Ambassadors .
He expressed optimism that two or more similar football teams would spring up in Oyo town and its environs in the future .
Also speaking , Mr. Fakayode Adebowale , one of the awardees and founding member of the football team , thanked members for upholding legacies left behind.
